TECNO continues to amaze with its unusual and affordable new products.
Today I got my hands on a new product – POVA 6. It features a capacious battery, which is balanced by a powerful chip and turns on the display in an alternative mode. And what surprised me most was the almost complete absence of a heater, even in the most complex configuration.
Interesting? Let’s talk about it now.
The company continues to amaze the configuration of its devices
As in the TECNO POVA 6 Pro 5G review, here I started with the configuration, which again pleasantly greeted me before looking at the smartphone itself.
In the box with POVA 6 we are greeted with:
► 70 W power adapter
► dense and quite thick USB-A/USB-C charging cable
► protective film
► transparent silicone case with hard sides for both body and camera
► documentation
Overall the set is quite rich. Many manufacturers either apply the film in advance or do not apply it at all. And here it lies separately, also with a cover as a gift. Great, thanks, respect.
Vibrant on the outside, unforgettable on the inside
The distinctive feature was the new TECNO part that became their design. Of course, the manufacturer has made a statement about its appearance before, but it seems that this time the company tried even harder.
The appearance of the device immediately evokes the style of fantastic mecha-robots. And even the names of the colors emphasize space: gray meteorite, blue star and green comet.
The back panel imitates transparent glass. In fact, we have before us a plastic case with lithographic elements in “cyber design”, under which lies an original design in the form of a metal plate.
Unlike the firmware, there is no LED ring around one of the cameras, but it is present. three LED lines, lighting up in different modes. These elements have different conditions and operating modes. They can be configured for a large number of tasks: incoming calls and notifications, music, charging, party mode (someday this panel will always blink). In total up to 108 settings.
All lines in the camera block are received 116 independent diodes, so the appearance of the glow will really be different. And, most importantly, spectacular!
The case is protected from dust and moisture according to the IP53 standard. That is, it is not afraid of rain and contamination with dirt.
The lighting and power adjustment buttons are located on the right. On the left there is only a slot for two SIM cards and a microSD card with expansion up to 1 TB . At the top there is a microphone, an infrared port and a stereo speaker. Below we are greeted by a second speaker, a USB-C port, another microphone and a 3.5 mm jack for wired headphones. There are no changes to this part.
As for ergonomics, everything is in order here. The smartphone fits well in the hand and does not “cut” the palm with its slightly pointed edges. It slips due to the plastic, but this issue is easily solved with the included case.
However, not everyone will find this device comfortable to hold due to its size and flat shape. It seems to me that this gadget is designed more for those with larger hands. It’s best to touch it before purchasing to make sure it fits you exactly.
The large and unforgettable lamp pleased
What is really rare in relatively budget smartphones is an AMOLED screen. And here TECNO managed to really impress by installing a 6-inch 6.8-inch screen with FHD+ technology (1080×2436) and a refresh rate of 120 Hz in the POVA.
It’s quite a memorable screen with a peak rating of 1300 nits. This mode is additionally activated by the power supply, and in normal mode the brightness reaches 800 nits.
That is, they are absolutely enjoy comfort even in the brightest sun. The PWM frequency reaches 2160 Hz, so you don’t see flicker. Consequently, the eyes do not get tired from working for a long time behind the OLED matrix.
The touch incident rate is 1500 Hzso gamers will especially appreciate this moment.
Update frequency has traditionally focused on protection. There are only three modes: 60, 90 and 120 Hz. Most people do not see the difference between the frequency of 90 and 120 Hz, so they advise using 90 to save energy (although there is such a huge battery, why save there).
There is also an analogue of Dynamic Island from the iPhone, called Dynamic port. It’s not as functional as the iPhone, but it’s still useful, for example when making a call or connecting to a charger.
This is a government smartphone that barely gets hot
I’ll point it out to commentators right away. I understand perfectly well that the chip is not a flagship one, but it is powerful enough for an inexpensive device and, according to the counter, it enters the segment of mid-budget gadgets.
So, the 6nm processor is responsible for the performance here. MediaTek G99 Ultimate. This is an overclocked version of the standard G99 with a Mali-G57 MC2 graphics accelerator.
I got my hands on a version with 8 GB of RAM, but there is also a 12 GB option. It is possible to expand the RAM counter to 16 and 24 GB, respectively. In general, this volume is enough to keep up to 15-20 applications open in the background.
In GeekBench 6, the results are as follows: 716 points in single-core and 1971 points in multi-core tests.
And do you know what I’ll tell you? Here are the game results that answer my game question:
• PUBG (low-medium settings): 72 frames per second.
• CoD Warzone (low settings): 46 FPS
• World of Tanks Blitz (ultra settings): 70 FPS
• Genshin Impact (medium settings): 48-52 FPS
True, in the newest configuration of Honkai Star Rail it is better to install it at a low level for a comfortable game, but it is also quite demanding on the hardware. A cool indicator for such an inexpensive device. This chip is enough for all modern games, and it copes with all tasks perfectly.
Most importantly, in almost all cases the gadget remains cold during the duration of the gaming session. It only gets hot after an hour of playing PUBG and I can’t get it hot. More like warm.
Camera ok, nothing special
TECNO POVA 6 has a 108 MP camera with a secondary camera.
I won’t stop here, it’s just an ordinary camera. It is quite enough for solving everyday problems and taking photographs during the daytime. Color rendition is not bad. So, walking around the city or taking pictures of natural landscapes is enough.

There is no macro here, so this is the closest shot possible
Without zoom
With 3x zoom
Due to the 108 MP module, it is possible to shoot at 3x digital size without loss of quality (the final image is based on the main image).
Video recording is available in resolution 2K/30 fps, as well as 1080/60 fps. There is support for digital EIS technologies.
This battery is really enough to last
What TECNO has done a really good job on is battery life. The smartphone is equipped with a powerful battery. 6000 mAhand it will last her two full days.
According to my test, this battery will last for 5-6 hours in games. Not even any flagship can provide such an indicator.
Charging modes
Then, at 1% charge, the gadget managed to withstand another 20 minutes of calls on paper and about 18 minutes in my tests.
The battery is powered by a powerful 70 W adapter – up to 50% in 20 minutes. For safety reasons, do not worry, STS technology is used here: the gadget has a protective layer between the aluminum foil and the cathode film, which allows for a possible short circuit and fire of the battery under mechanical stress.
Great inexpensive smartphone
TECNO POVA 6 costs 26-29 thousand rubles in Russia, depending on the amount of RAM.
For this money, you have realized a spectacular design, combined with a large battery, a powerful MediaTek chip for budget devices, an unforgettable AMOLED display and an unusual LED panel. In general, “complete stuffing”.
What else do you need for that kind of money? Verdict: We’re pregnant.
