The research, conducted by Natalya Shchegoleva, a scientist from the TSU Institute of Biology, is dedicated to the buttercup family. This is the first complete revision of this taxon in the last 70 years. Work started in 2018 in collaboration with the Institute of Botany of the Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences.
Buttercups are extremely ecologically adaptable and live in a variety of vegetation types, from tundra to mountain systems. Their importance stems not only from scientific interest, but also from strategic importance as food and medical resources, the university press service noted.
