Microsoft employees working in China have received an offer from the company to move to other countries. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal.
Employees were offered the United States, Australia, Ireland and New Zealand as relocation countries. The newspaper clarifies that Microsoft’s letter was received by up to 800 company employees, who mainly work with cloud computing and machine learning.
Employees must make the decision to move by the end of May. At the same time, they were allowed to continue working from China, the newspaper notes.
According to Bloomberg, about 7,000 Microsoft employees work in Asia, most in China. Previously, Reuters reported that the United States plans to limit China’s access to the artificial intelligence software underlying generative networks.
