The Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region adopted provisional measures in the judicial process against UniCredit Bank AG. Interfax reported this.
The assets of UniCredit Bank JSC and UniCredit Bank AG (Munich) were seized; The total amount of seized assets amounts to 462.6 million euros.
Provisional measures were taken in response to the claim of the Ruskhimalliance company, created by Gazprom and Rusgazdobycha. The statement of claim was submitted in August 2023 and the amount of claims amounted to 45.7 billion rubles.
According to Reuters, UniCredit and other banks acted as guarantors of a multi-corporate contract for the construction of a complex in Ust-Luga. The banks refused to fulfill their obligations because payment to the Russian company could violate EU sanctions.
