Elon Musk’s Neuralink has begun looking for new participants in an experiment to implant a chip in the brain. The company has already successfully implanted a brain implant in a person who plays chess with the power of thought. Musk’s competitors are not far behind: Synchron is selecting patients for clinical trials of its neuroimplant.

Elon Musk’s Neuralink announced the search for new participants in a brain implant implantation experiment. This was reported by the company’s press service on its page on the social network X.

Neuralink looks for a person with paralyzed legs and arms who is losing motor function.

In February 2024 it was learned that Neuralink’s first patient with a neuroimplant could control a computer mouse using the power of thought. Later, Elon Musk showed a video of the same patient playing chess with the power of his thoughts.

Neuralink is currently developing an implant to restore vision. According to Musk, the resolution will initially be low, like Nintendo’s first graphics, but over time it can be increased to the level of human vision.

Neuralink competitor Synchron is also developing its own neuroimplant and began recruiting patients for clinical trials in April 2024.
