At the end of 2023, the economy of the Russian Internet segment amounted to 17.1 trillion rubles, which is an increase of 40%. This was reported by the Russian Association of Electronic Communications (RAEC) in its annual study.
- e-commerce (93% of the entire Russian Internet economy): 15.9 trillion rubles, +39%;
- Internet advertising and marketing: 564 billion rubles, +45%;
- online retail: 5.3 trillion rubles, +35%;
- infrastructure segment: 399.4 billion rubles, +33%;
- digital content: 186 billion rubles, + 99%;
- digital book market: 13 billion rubles, +15%.
The growth of the RuNet economy exceeded analysts’ expectations. Experts predicted a 35% increase to 16.4 trillion rubles.
Experts expect the RuNet economy to grow by 40% by the end of 2024 to reach 23.8 trillion rubles. The main driver of growth, as in previous years, will be the e-commerce segment, the association noted.
