New research results from the SuperJob service showed that only 6% of Russians are ready to pay for their purchases using biometric data such as a smile. Sber’s project to implement this payment method is ongoing, but most Russians do not yet trust such a system.

Only less than 1% of the 1,600 citizens surveyed currently use biometric payments in stores and smile at the camera. Most Russians, just like a year ago, are not ready to use this method.

However, among young Russians under the age of 34, trust in the biometric payment system appears to be slightly higher, reaching 9%. However, the majority of the population still thinks that this method is not safe enough.

A survey of 393 regions in Russia showed that the majority of the country’s economically active population over the age of 18 has a conservative view of new payment technologies.
