This week, the unfortunate new film “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2” arrived in Russian film distribution. This is the continuation of the terrifying experiment by Rhys Frake-Waterfield, who decided to take the lovable characters of A. A. Milne into a world of cruel and bloody horror.

This time we received a slightly larger budget, which provided the authors with improved visual design of the bloody madness.

We already went to the premiere, ate honey, and are ready to share with you. Everything is very clear. It wasn’t honey.

It has a bigger budget than the original, but that doesn’t help.

What is the movie about: The film continues the story begun in the first part, where kind characters from children’s books turn into ruthless killers. Christopher Robin, faced with the suspicions of the city authorities, tries to uncover the mystery of the sinister creatures that now threaten him and the lives of his loved ones, bringing with them horror and death.

The first part of the film, shot for a measly $100 thousand, managed to surprise. Worse special effects and frankly passable acting did not save the film from devastating reviews. We also spat on the films and explained what was bad in literally everything. But, oddly enough, this dubious craft managed to collect more than $5 million worldwide.

The creators, inspired by the unexpected income, decided to raise the stakes in the second part and increase the budget five times. It would seem that this is salvation! But, alas, the miracle did not happen. Despite significant investments, the film fails miserably, having so far grossed only $650,000 worldwide.

Why did the picture fail, for which they returned five times as much money?

The answer is simple: Neither the increased budget nor other changes could correct the poor plot, mediocre acting and horrifying special effects that the first part “shone.” Spoiler (!) – the film turned out to be meaningless and uninteresting, both visually and meaningfully. The viewer did not want to look at the trash craft again.

One could assume that the creators would see the mistakes of the past and present the audience with a worthy continuation, but instead they simply copied all the shortcomings of the first part, adding new ones to them.

The increase in budget, unfortunately, did not lead to the quality of the film, but only increased the clutter and chaos on the screen.

The film needed a clear script, but it wasn’t edited.

The plot sets up a backstory for Pooh and his friends, but falls flat with ridiculous explanations and illogical scenes, some of which just want to be cut because they make no sense. For example, Christopher Robin’s character arc becomes even more confusing and ridiculous, evoking the viewer’s familiar hand-to-face feeling.

In other words, the film still doesn’t have a cohesive logic. This is again a collection of shots of dire game, which on the editing table the authors tried to communicate with each other. It turned out to be a blunder, but was anyone expecting Nolan?

The film was supposed to either scare or make you laugh, but it was stupidly boring

Although the sequel has some problems improving upon the original, its main problem is that it takes itself too seriously.

At first glance, the idea of the bloodthirsty Winnie the Pooh and his psychic friends in the role of a homicidal maniac seems funny and just bursts into trash comedy. But the film, despite the abundance of bloody scenes, is completely unaware of its ability to become truly humorous and creepy at the same time.

It’s ironic to see such a crazy and absurd idea presented with such grim seriousness.

The film is sorely lacking in self-irony and trashy 18+ fun that could make it a cult classic. Instead, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 follows the path of dark drama, falling short of either horror or comedy.

A guide on how not to make a movie

One of the main problems of the film is that the specialist who takes into account the light on the set is a real idiot. The lighting in the picture is so uneven that the eyes begin to get sick. Overlit scenes are juxtaposed with terribly dark ones.

Scenes where characters fumble around like blind kittens look as stupid as possible. The authors skip the scene into impenetrable darkness, where neither the characters, nor the scenery, nor what is happening on the screen are visible. As a result, something frightening happens on the screen, but understanding and seeing it is not a condition.

In modern times, the joint could be seen at an early stage and scenes could be re-shot. This shows not only a lack of knowledge about life among those in charge, but also a lack of attention to detail. And so it will pass, eat.

We don’t deserve characters like this

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 continues the story with an animated prologue and introduces new characters such as Owl and Tigger. It sounds promising? No matter how it is. Do you know how to describe the main acting villains? Pooh’s look is reminiscent of the cheapest version of Jim Carrey’s makeup in How the Grinch Stole Christmas (now in a new color!), Owl looks like an overgrown half-witted vulture, and Tigger seems to be just a slightly more cat-cringe manifestation of Pooh (no, it’s not a female one). cat).

All of them do absolute crap on the screen, and the authors practically do not explain their actions in any way.

It’s just pointless, stupid, stupid getting and misogynistic torture that the villains, masked characters, don’t try to use as a motive in their actions, like John Kramer did in Cool or the creepy surgeons in Hostel.

Each participant simply strives for bloody self-realization, and no one tries to understand why this needs to be done at all.

Trash special effects and anatomy lessons for stupid people

While the special effects are better done than the original, with plenty of gore and gruesome details, they show little care or knowledge of how the human body works. How bones really break, how flesh really tears. Everything taken looks great unnatural.

In order for the viewer to believe in the walking, preceding and killing all living things Winnie the Pooh, trash effects must be realistic. But in fact, the bloody moments look extremely ridiculous and unconvincing. Sometimes it is noticeable that the authors go too far with CGI effects, making the picture more cartoonish than creepy.

In terms of horror of its own, Blood and Honey 2 offers some pretty creepy, disgusting moments, especially at the beginning and end of the film. However, the middle part of the picture depends on the tension and blood content. Those who love “meat” may remain a little disappointed after long “press” pauses.
The only thing that deserves praise is the musical accompaniment for its atmosphere, but it is not able to compensate for the weak points of the film.

Only stupid bees pass by here

The creators of the premiere had to completely devote themselves to trash comedy, focusing on the absurd and absurd. Perhaps then Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 could find its audience and become a favorite of trash horror fans.

The film absurdly tries to combine cruelty and comedy, as a result of which both evolve. We pass by.
