The future data center, according to the company’s plans, will ensure the operation of Google services such as Search, Maps and Workspace.
Additionally, the center will specialize in cloud services in the region.
Google writes on its blog that the investments will contribute more than $3.2 billion to the country’s economy over the next five years. In addition, the launch of the data center and its maintenance will create 26.5 thousand jobs.
This is the third time that tech giants are reported to be interested in Malaysia. The day before, on May 29, Apple announced the launch of its first store in the country.
And earlier this month, Microsoft announced investments commensurate with Google’s investments in developing cloud businesses and artificial intelligence technologies in Malaysia. Investments will amount to 2.2 billion dollars.
