The popularity of flexible smartphones is growing in Russia. In 2024, they were purchased 7% more often than in 2023.

MTS analyzed the Russian smartphone market and found that in 2024 there was the highest demand for smartphones with a flexible display.

Thus, from January to May, Russians purchased 29 thousand of such devices for 2.9 billion rubles. This is more than for the same period in 2023 – by 7% in pieces and by 16% in money.

The main factor in sales growth was the expansion of the range, primarily due to Chinese brands. At the end of May this year, 30 such models are already being reviewed on the Russian market.

One of the most popular was HONOR Magic V2. It appeared in Russia in February and within four months became a bestseller, the operator notes. The cost of the smartphone was 179,990 rubles, but from May 31 at MTS it decreased to 139,990 rubles. MTS analysts believe that sales of this model may more than double by the end of the year, which will allow HONOR to become one of the top three manufacturers of foldable devices.

Samsung remains the leader with shares of 50% in pieces and 56% in money. And for January-May 2024, the TOP 5 included:

Most often, folding smartphones are bought in Moscow and the regions, St. Petersburg, the Republic of Tatarstan, Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk territories and the Sverdlovsk region. They account for more than 50% of all sales.

From January to May, 13.5 million of all smartphones were sold in Russia for 290 billion rubles. Compared to January-May 2023, this is an increase of 11% per day and 28% per day.
