The illegal trade in condoms in Russia is growing and its percentage, according to market experts, can reach 20-30%. The reason for such a high percentage is the ease of manufacturing the products and the low barrier to entry into the market.

This information was shared with TASS correspondents by the chairman of the board of directors of the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (CRPT), Mikhail Dubin, on the sidelines of SPIEF. He pointed out that the evaluation of the proportion of illegal trade is done by representatives of this company.

These indicators, among others, were taken into account when drawing up a list of the types of products that will participate in the labeling experiment. It begins on September 1, 2024 and will last until the end of summer 2025.

“A resolution from the government is expected,” Dubin recalled. There are currently 10 “new types of medical devices” on the list.

Based on the results of the labeling experiment, the authorities will already decide on the need (or not) to introduce mandatory labeling.
