First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov announced this on the Russia 24 TV channel during SPIEF-2024.
Manturov noted that the government decided to expand the mechanism for next year and gradually reduce the list of goods covered by this mechanism.
This is due to the appearance on the market of similar products from Russian manufacturers. “As Russian manufacturers produce products of the quality and volume required by the Russian market, the government will gradually narrow parallel import opportunities,” he added.
As a precaution against sanctions, the parallel import mechanism was implemented in 2022 and is renewed every year. It helps ensure access to goods that are not produced in the Russian Federation and whose supply is refused by foreign manufacturers, which is especially important in the context of sanctions and restrictions.
