The first beta release of iOS 18 has taken place.
We tested the first applications and share our impressions. What works? What’s broken?
Let’s figure it out.
We tested performance on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro.
What’s up with the banks?
First of all, we checked banking applications:
• Sberbank: working
• Tinkoff: working
• Alfa-Bank: working
• Post Bank: working
• Raiffeisen Bank: working
In the first 20 minutes after installation, not a single third-party application crashed. None of them started to slow down. They all worked as normal.
I went through all the menus, including system ones, edited the arrangement of icons on the home screen, added and removed widgets, launched built-in and additional software. Everything worked flawlessly.
It feels like the new OS works slightly worse than iOS 17.5. There are minor bugs, but nothing critical. The first lags passed literally in 1-2 minutes.
At least something is broken
At the time of verification there were no such applications. We protested:
• Sberbank
• T-Bank
• Alfa Bank
• VTB
• Raiffeisen
• Spark
• Microsoft Office
• Telegram
• Viber
• WhatsApp
• YouTube
• Pixelmator
• Google Maps
• All Yandex services
• Scale
• Instagram (owned by Meta, banned and recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation)
• TIC Tak
• X (formerly Twitter)
• Reddit
• Discord
• VC
• MTS
• MegaFon
• beeline
• Tele 2
• SPAR
• Pyaterochka
• Crossroads
• Globe
• Delicious and full stop
• Rostika
• Burger King
And many other applications.
What bugs have you noticed?
Copying does not always work smoothly. Sometimes the menu does not appear, sometimes the yellow button is not available.
In iPadOS 18, the response to dragging an app in Stage Manager does not always work.
Hard saving in iOS 18 does not always undo the last action. For example, it may return the tab to Safari, but not restore its traditions.
Otherwise, no other bugs are noticeable yet. However, it is a matter of time.
