Clicking on Google Messages presents users with a full-screen user interface with five “Recent Conversations” sections, each showing a snippet of the most recent message.

For a more comprehensive view, click the More Recent Conversations button to open your entire conversation history; There is a search button in the upper right corner. Users can access the full contact list below, which replaces the New Message option in the old pop-up interface.

Although the design is bulkier than before, it provides more context and information. The redesign is rolling out gradually, currently available to beta users, with a wider release expected soon.
