At the beginning of June, an early access release for our best game Bodycam took place on Steam.

Even before the game was released, gamers did not believe that it would have such realistic graphics. Her condition is very serious from real life. And many even opposed such decisions, and for good reason.

We share our impressions of the project. They are ambiguous, but rather positive.

System requirements

Regarding commissions, we will start with the main thing – the system requirements for the title. They are quite big. The game only works on Windows. You can try emulation on a Mac, but only on M2 Pro chips and higher. Otherwise the game will simply work disgustingly.

On Windows computers the situation is a little simpler, but also far from ideal.

Minimum:

64-bit processor and operating system
• OS: Windows 10/11.
• Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, Intel Core i7-9700K
• Operating memory: 8 GB RAM.
• Video card: AMD Radeon RX 5700 (8 GB), NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 (8 GB)
Disk space: 50 GB

Recommended:

64-bit processor and operating system
• OS: Windows 10/11.
• Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X, Intel Core i7-10700K
• Operating memory: 16 GB RAM.
• Video card: AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT (8 GB), NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 (12 GB)
• Disk space: 50 GB

Important: Play only on SSD. On the hard drive the game takes an ungodly time to load everything.

Optimization in the game is poor. Even on the RTX 4080 title there may be a loss of performance, a decrease in the frame rate from 100 to 25-30. It’s early access, but still thorough.

And what happens is the system requirements themselves. I also tested the game at medium-high frequencies with the GTX 1070 Ti, and the game produced a stable 45 frames per second.

What kind of game is it

Bodycam is a tactical multiplayer first-person shooter. In general, the closest analogue can be called Counter-Strike, only here the emphasis is on realism in everything.

The game will be reminiscent (with a stretch, but still) Ready or not. There is a heavy emphasis on tactics in the main game mode. Or rather, there are three main ones: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Bomb.

Each of them, as you know, is not the first ten years old. The only difference is in the first case, when you have endless exclamations, and many already forget about tactics, giving preference to “meat”.

In the second case, the team that gets 10 wins faster wins. In the third, it’s either me, who will kill the other team faster, or me, who will have the bomb explode.

Everyone is responsible for finalizing Bodycam two people 17 and 20 years old. This is a great achievement for such a team.

It would be impossible to come up with anything new in the genre. However, the usual modes are transformed instantly, as soon as realism is added to it.

The camera on the player is positioned in such a way as if it were being filmed from a chest camera (hence the names, in fact). It is slightly shifted upward for easier aiming.

This is a hardcore shooter

Yes and no. In general, there is nothing difficult in the game. The modes are standard, the tasks too.

But the game is transformed due to the highest detail and amazing physics of the behavior of weapons and players’ bodies. There are no bots or story campaign, only harsh multiplayer for up to 10 people.

The maps are not particularly large, but very detailed. The developers paid some insane attention to detail, thanks to which everyone looks too natural and can even be frightening.

For example, the way defeated opponents fall. The movement is similar to the real thing, and in some cases they can even leave and show everyone how they act from their injuries. At such moments you feel not just in a shooter, but on the first battlefield, in a war, in an assault by real special forces.

The level of immersion in Bodycam is simply off the charts.

You need to get used to the scene. The behavior and sound of weapons were taken from our own samples. I advise you to immediately turn up the volume to medium results, otherwise you may become deaf from the unaccustomed shooting and screaming.

When you kill, you are given control of the drones for the rest of the round. And here you also need to be careful, because if he even touches the wall with the blade, he will immediately fall off. In general, you need to act carefully.

If there is also a cosmetics store. Here you can purchase weapon attachments, skins, body armor, balaclavas, holsters and much more. All this plays only a visual role and is purchased using the in-game currency earned in the “skating rinks”. There was no sign of Donat yet.

And all menus are combined best funk music. There is a lot of it, it is varied and does not get boring.

It all comes down to content

Here lies the main problem of Bodycam – the scarcity of content.

There are few types of weapons in the game. There is one gun for each type of firearm: pistol, machine gun, machine gun, rifle, shotgun and grenade.

The number of cards is also minimal. There are less than six of them.

It’s all the time finishes eating. And find more than an hour in Bodycam to warm up the fatigue. There is still little variety.

However, the developers promised to regularly update this content and constantly improve it based on user feedback. Let’s see what comes out of this in time.

try. It’s a completely different experience

Bodycam is already available on Steam, including Russia. Price – 1200 rubles. Considering that it will still be filled with content, this is a completely justified cost.

If you love tactical shooters and have a positive attitude towards hyperrealism in games, this project is definitely for you. But if you are a fan of casual shooters like Battlefield or Call of Duty, then you may not like the new product.

But I advise you to first make sure that your equipment corresponds to comfortable and high settings. Otherwise, you may lose all the charm of Bodycam and not appreciate it properly.
