This project, combining government, scientific and commercial resources, aims to achieve Russia’s global leadership in the field of neurotechnology and bionic prostheses, the FMBA press service reported.
The center will develop technologies for deep brain stimulation to treat Parkinson’s disease, spinal stimulation to eliminate neuropathic pain, peripheral nerve stimulation to suppress phantom pain, and vagus nerve stimulation to control epileptic seizures. Innovative neuromodulation and digital diagnostic systems will also be introduced, the press service noted.
The main tasks of the center include the development of indigenous neurostimulators, the use of brain-computer interfaces, and the restoration of sensitivity after amputation using high-tech prostheses.
