Samsung may introduce the “Lock App” feature in the upcoming One UI update. This functionality is useful for users who need to block access to certain mobile phone applications such as social networks and instant messengers.
leaker Tarun Vats A screenshot that must have been taken in the test version of One UI 7 was published on the old Twitter X account. Two features are displayed on the screen: “dual messaging” and “app lock”.
While Galaxy phones already have a locking system via Secure Folder, the “app lock” would work a little differently.
The app blocking function only serves to restrict access to an app normally installed from the Play Store. For example, when blocking WhatsApp, the application will only work through authentication. This prevents other people from opening the messenger and reading conversations without the permission of the device owner.
Calling all Galaxy Fans! ??

This functionality is available on your mobile phone through third-party applications, also installed via the Google store. The user can restrict access to the Gallery, but it is still possible to view images and videos via the file explorer.
Similar but different
Secure Folder also allows you to lock apps on Samsung smartphones. However, the feature creates a “second instance” of the application that runs independently of the main instance. Secure Folder is a limited space where all data is encrypted and isolated from the rest of the system.
The problem is that not all applications work in it because the data is encrypted. Some applications install but do not allow data such as username and password to be saved, which does not allow the use of an account. In this case the software will only be 100% functional and access will be blocked via “application lock”.
Currently, the leaker’s information is just a rumor. If Samsung launches this feature, it will be introduced in One UI 7, which may be announced in October.
