The Association of International Road Transporters has appealed to the Ministry of Transport, stating that the Kazakh customs is delaying the shipment of goods to Russia from EU countries, RBC reported, citing the association’s appeal.
We are talking about the detention of at least 20 trucks; there is documentary evidence of 6 cases. Both semi-trailers and tractors are delayed, according to the association.
The mechanism for transferring cargo at the border with EU countries has been in force since 2022. It was introduced in response to European sanctions banning the movement of trucks registered in Russia and Belarus through the territory of the European Union. The goods were transported in transit through Russia and then to Kazakhstan.
The detention of Russian trucks in Kazakhstan first became known in the fall of 2022. Customs required drivers to present documents from a European company transporting goods across the European Union. However, when transferring documents, companies do not transfer documents to each other, the association noted.
