Novosibirsk State University (NSU) and Rosatom have launched the first master’s program to train specialists in the field of digital twins. Students will be able to specialize in IT disciplines using technologies used in government agencies. The program “Digital Twins and Scientific Engineering” at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics aims to train specialists to create new engineering software that will be used to create digital twins of complex technological processes and objects.
Digital twins are virtual models that accurately reproduce the form and actions of the original and synchronize with it. They are necessary to simulate situations with a real object under various conditions. This approach saves time and money when working with expensive equipment and prevents possible harm to people and the environment.
The head of the program, Rustam Mullyadzhanov, noted that students will be able to get the most up-to-date knowledge from an industrial partner and work with advanced technologies. Digital twins are in demand in the fields of energy, chemical technologies, aviation, biomedicine and others. The program is designed for 30 students per year, and this is the first such project of NSU in partnership with Rosatom.
