Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Grigorenko ordered the development of a service that will allow marriages to be concluded using biometrics without presenting documents. The Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Digital Development, the Russian Federal Tax Service and the Center for Biometric Technologies will work on this issue. The new service will facilitate services from civil registry offices, including changing names and determining paternity using biometric authentication.
According to the order, a roadmap will be developed with detailed stages and timing for the launch of the service. The state’s Unified Biometric System will be used to verify identity during population registration. Users of this system will be able to receive population registration services without presenting documents, which will speed up and simplify the process.
As a result, citizens will have two ways to receive registry services: using traditional documents or using biometrics. This innovation will save time and resources by making procedures more convenient and accessible.
