Dentist Dr. Kami Hossom explains how and when to brush your teeth properly. According to her, you should first use mouthwash, then floss, a tongue scraper, and finally the brush in the morning before breakfast. So, you only need to clean it at the end.
Choose your dental floss carefully: Some contain petroleum-based wax or other ingredients that are not suitable for the mouth. Buy thread made of silk or nylon coated with beeswax.
Additionally, the toothpaste you use for cleaning should be slightly alkaline.
When it comes to mouthwash, you need to be careful. Sometimes using a strong antiseptic product can do more harm than good by eliminating both harmful and beneficial bacteria in your mouth. Instead of an antiseptic, you can use an alkaline one that restores pH.
When the pH becomes acidic, tooth decay or oral disease occurs. When the pH of your mouth reaches 5.5, the acid begins to dissolve hydroxyapatite (the mineral enamel of your teeth). However, when you stop eating, the pH rises again. Your teeth are washed by saliva and remineralized within 30 minutes to an hour. If you eat a lot of junk food (sugar, processed foods, simple carbohydrates, and acidic foods) or just eat very often, demineralization occurs more actively than remineralization, and tooth decay occurs.
