Spring conscription in Russia ended on July 15. Autumn conscription begins on October 1. The Ministry of Digital Development reminds that employees of accredited companies have the right to deferment.
“From July 24 to August 6, employees of IT companies will be able to apply through the State Services for a deferral of military service as part of conscription in the fall of 2024. The employer will see the applications in his personal account and, if the information about the employee is correct, will confirm them,” the department said in a statement.
The press service added that the organization can add an employee to the list for a deferral on its own.
The agency clarifies that companies must send all data to the Ministry of Digital Development before August 11 and reminds that several lists from the same organization can be submitted.
Conditions for obtaining a deferral
The deferral is available to employees aged 18 to 30, provided they have worked at an accredited company for at least 11 months (with the exception of those who were employed within one year of graduating from university). The organisation itself must obtain or confirm accreditation by 11 August.
The postponement of compulsory military service for IT specialists became particularly relevant in 2022, when a partial mobilization was announced in the country. Having IT armor allows IT specialists to avoid being sent to a combat zone.
In the spring of 2023, it became known that the government did not support the draft law of the New People’s Party, which provided for a postponement of mobilization for individual entrepreneurs, exclusive participants of LLCs and heads of peasant farms.
