Telegram has expanded the monetization possibilities for channel owners in Russia. They will now be able to receive 50% of the revenue generated by advertising on their channels. This feature started working at the end of March for channels with 1,000 or more viewers, but was previously unavailable in Russia and some other countries.
Monetization is done through Telegram’s new internal currency, “stars.” In the channel settings, you can now track three categories: the total amount of rewards available and the amount accrued from the last withdrawal. The withdrawal process will take at least 21 days from the moment the money is reflected in your balance.
Channel owners can also use “stars” to purchase or withdraw ads through the Fragment auction platform. This will make the rewards and advertising process more flexible and convenient.
