Starlink’s expansion in Brazil

Starlink was authorized to operate in Brazil with the sale of its satellite internet package in January 2022. The service involves purchasing a receiver antenna and paying a monthly fee.

Within months, nearly 90% of municipalities in the states that make up the legal Amazon already had customers for the service, the region the company was most likely to target, citing a lack of coverage from traditional operators and rising demand. It is now the country’s leader in the satellite internet segment.

The company’s success is to transform the tourism industry in the country, including the internet in remote tourist areas and reaching indigenous communities with access to the network for the first time.

Also of interest to the Brazilian government, especially for the work of providing signals to schools and Navy ships, the operator almost had to revise its contracts due to the fight between the businessman and the Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
