The top three concerns of Muscovites also included natural disasters (floods, abnormal frosts, fires, hurricanes) and financial and telephone scams.
At the same time, rising prices, which have become the most common cause of concern in the country, are still not among the top three current concerns of the capital’s residents.
Fears of escalation of conflict with the West and possible use of nuclear weapons By the end of 2022, they were already among the top three concerns in Moscow and the Republic of Crimea, as well as in the Yaroslavl region. Also among the top concerns at the end of 2022 were the advancement of SVO and the departure of foreign companies, brands and payment systems.
In 2023, Muscovites were most concerned about sabotage, the crisis of June 23-24, and attacks on people by neural networks. In January-March 2024, Muscovites were also most concerned about sabotage and drone attacks.
The National Anxiety Index is a quarterly ranking of Russians’ phobias based on analysis of media and social networks.
