The family comedy “Not Alone at Home” was released in Russia. The leading role was played by the popular video blogger and singer Milana Khametova, who was supposed to become the main feature of the film and attract the attention of fans of young stars.
The main idea of the film is the use of smart home technologies, it would seem that this should be interesting. But why did the film receive extremely negative ratings (5.8 on Kinopoisk at the time of writing the review).
We went to the premiere, our fears were confirmed. Absolutely everything is bad here. As always, we tell you without spoilers, but with horror.
Is this a modern version of Home Alone? No, that’s just absurd.
What is the movie about: The plot is painfully reminiscent of the famous comedy “Home Alone”, only in its lowest form. There is Masha – a girl from a rich family, who is left alone in a smart house while her parents go on a business trip. Of course, the nanny who was supposed to look after her turns out to be a fraud.
Together with her accomplice, she will try to rob the house. And here the most “interesting” part begins: Masha, with the help of smart home technologies, tries to build a portable burglar.
Sound familiar? Yes, because it is a banal copy without a drop of originality. Instead of an exciting and funny story, we got a boring and ridiculous fake.
In Home Alone, Macaulay Culkin, in Kevin McCallister’s videos, uses his ingenuity and traps to get the clumsy burglars off their feet. The trap scenes are full of humor and surprises that make them memorable and funny.
The smart home, which could have been an interesting plot element in Not One House, is used minimally and absolutely not creatively. Instead of exciting traps, we are presented with primitive and boring scenes that only cause yawn.
The humor in Not Alone at Home feels like a cheap knockoff. Masha’s traps are primitive and profitable, and the jokes are so flat that they only make you feel awkward.
Many moments of the film are full of deliberate exaggeration and absurdity, which looks like the scriptwriter’s outright nonsense. The situations in which the characters are taken into account are so absurd that even in the ninth comedy it is simply ABSURD in its purest form.
There are some terrible characters here.
In Home Alone, Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern are unique robber characters who are both scary and funny. Their interactions with Kevin were full of humor and surprises.
In addition, Yulianna Mikhnevich and Aleksey Maklakov in the leading roles of the castles look like stupid caricatures. Their exaggerated gestures and ridiculous behavior cause bewilderment rather than laughter. It seems that the scriptwriters decided to make them as stupid as possible so that even children would understand that this is a comedy. However, it turned out so badly that even children ask: “What was that?”
Acting: also not good
In Home Alone, Kevin McCallister became a crowd favorite, thanks to Macaulay Culkin’s charismatic performance. His naturalness and charm made the film unique.
Milana Khametova in Masha’s videos is an example of real child acting that you can imagine. Her entrance is artificial and unnatural, which makes the character unloved and unattractive.
David Manukyan (the same blogger DAVA), who played Masha’s father, also failed to cope with his part. His character, who is always working and losing his daughter, looks so stupid and unconvincing that it is difficult to take him seriously.
Unprofessionalism and lack of experience The end of this couple’s exit is forced and unnatural. Just as bad as “Comedy” on the big screen.
The main idea is presented in the most crude way possible
The idea that parents should spend time with their children is so crude that it just becomes irritating. Instead of showing this through action and character development, the viewer is simply told “Parents, spend time with your children.” Thanks for the news, but it could have been done a little more subtly and cleverly.
You don’t need to watch this.
The film is so boring that even children left the auditorium during our screening.
Every moment of the film is profitable and uninteresting. In the end, from these moments you can only highlight the cartoonish inserts and TikTok-style visual effects that give the film a modern look that is attractive to you. But in addition to a beautiful wrapper, a normal viewer also needs a tasty filling, and not a slapdash craft. If you value and develop your children’s taste for something good, memorable and instructive, this film is definitely not worth showing.
If you want to spend your time usefully, it’s better to rewatch Home Alone – it will bring pleasure and at least cause sweet nostalgia.
