The State Duma deputies approved in the first reading a bill banning the placement of advertisements on information resources of organisations recognised in Russia as extremist and undesirable. The adoption of the bill was announced on the website of the lower house of parliament.
The proposal is to extend the effect of the bill to resources whose access is restricted under Russian law.
The current version of the document assumes that the advertiser and the advertising distributor will be responsible for violating the law.
One of the authors of the bill, head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Technology and Communications Alexander Khinshtein, noted that the adoption of the law will improve information security in the Russian Federation.
