The cyber outage that occurred on Friday (19) caused losses of more than 5.4 billion US dollars for the affected companies. A report published by the company Parametrix on Wednesday (24) estimated the losses suffered by each sector during the crisis, taking into account the companies included in the Fortune 500.
The segment most affected by the widespread outage was healthcare, with losses of approximately $1.94 billion, followed by financial institutions and air transportation ($860 million), with an impact of $1.15 billion.
According to the survey, all airlines in the Fortune 500 were affected. In total, 25% of the companies on the list (125 companies) were affected. In addition to direct financial losses, the disruptions caused by the CrowdStrike Falcon error led to significant delays in service delivery.
Parametrix notes that companies that rely on physical computers take longer to recover. “This strengthens the resilience and rapid recovery of cloud-based systems,” the company notes.

- Healthcare: $1.94 billion;
- Banks: $1.15 billion;
- Airlines: $860 million;
- IT and software services: $560 million;
- Retail: $470 million;
- Others: US$190 million;
- Financial sector: US$140 million;
- Transportation (others): US$70 million;
- Industry: $40 million.
Interestingly, the IT sector was the least affected by the power outage. In most of these companies, services are configured on Linux, a system that is not affected by the outage.
Almost everything has become normal
According to CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz, 97% of the affected computers are working again. The manager published the platform’s status update on LinkedIn this Thursday (25).
“To our impacted consumers, please know that we will not rest until a full recovery is achieved,” he said. “Our mission at CrowdStrike is to earn your trust by strengthening your operations,” he continued.
