The main active ingredient in the treatment of diseases of the stomach and duodenum is bismuth carbonate, which is quite effective and safe. The new method proposed by NSPU researchers eliminates the use of nitrates, which can form carcinogens.
According to Associate Professor of NSPU Ekaterina Koledova, to obtain bismuth carbonate, bismuth oxide is dissolved in lactic acid, and bismuth carbonate is precipitated using an ammonium carbonate solution. The resulting product is of high purity and meets international pharmacopoeial standards.
