Walt Disney is expecting strong results from Deadpool and Wolverine after the failures of Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel 2, Bloomberg reports. The box office take in the United States and Canada is expected to be between $180 million and $200 million. The film was released in theaters on July 26.

It should be noted that Disney acquired Marvel 15 years ago for $4 billion, but did not own the film rights to some of the comics – they were sold to other companies. In 2019, 21st Century Fox was also purchased, after which it became the owner of the rights to the comic book characters Deadpool, Fantastic Four and X-Men.

“Deadpool and Wolverine” will be Marvel’s first film in 2024 and is expected to be a continuation of the previous two parts.

“We’ve been dreaming for a long time, of course, ever since the Fox acquisition, of introducing mutants into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And this is the beginning of a very long journey,” said Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.

Recently, Marvel Studios, as noted by the publication’s journalists, has been having problems. For example, “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantomania”, released a year ago, did not even break even, and the box office of “Captain Marvel 2” set an anti-record in the entire history of the franchise.

We previously wrote that Inside Out 2 could become the highest-grossing animated film in history. The film quickly surpassed almost all of its competitors, including the full-length animated adaptation of the Mario video game series – the movie “Super Mario Brothers at the Movies.”
