A team of scientists led by Stanislav Sukhikh from IKBFU studied the thermophysical properties and calorific value of biomass of aquatic plants such as reed, reed and reed cattail. They also determined the optimal parameters for the conversion of this biomass into fuel.

According to the results of the research, Reed turned out to be particularly promising. Its biomass has excellent thermophysical properties and low ash content – only 7.6%. This makes reed an excellent raw material for biofuel production. Scientists also found that biofuel obtained from reed has good properties, such as low boiling fraction content and low coke residue.

Using aquatic plants to produce biofuels could be an important step toward more sustainable development. This would not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also help protect the environment. The study’s findings offer new opportunities to produce clean fuels from renewable sources that could help combat global climate change and natural resource depletion.
