Cheese is high in saturated fat and soft drinks are high in added sugar. Equally harmful products include chicken and ketchup. Excessive consumption increases the risk of heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

The results of the new study were published in the journal Nutrients. As part of this study, experts analyzed data from 36,378 American adults aged 19 and older. All of these people participated in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey between 2005 and 2018.

In general, the top sources of saturated fat include cheese, pizza, ice cream and eggs. The main sources of added sugar are soft drinks, tea, fruit drinks, cakes and pies.

According to the USDA’s What We Eat in America food list, saturated fat intake is contributed by cold cuts of meat, cream substitutes, French fries, whole milk; tomato-based condiments, cereal bars, energy drinks and sourdough breads; and added sugar.
