The family patriarch said he relied on pictures and advice in a book available on Amazon which turned out to contain many dangerous errors.

A serious threat to novice mushroom pickers has emerged due to the proliferation of books written by neural networks.

These books often contain misleading information, including advice to “identify poisonous mushrooms by taste and smell,” which can have dire consequences.

The Guardian journalists conducted an investigation and found that such books consist entirely of text generated by ChatGPT, which is inappropriate to the subject and created in an unnatural literary style.

As a result of the scandal, Amazon has removed some of the books that raised concerns, but the problem of low-quality literature written by neural networks remains.
