Microsoft announced one of the biggest changes to Teams. The tech giant has launched a redesign of its Mac and PC app and now offers the ability to merge your accounts. This means that you don’t have to download a separate Teams app to make work or personal video calls.

The tech company announced that it has launched a single Teams app for Windows 11, Windows 10, and Mac users. personal, professional or educational account will be able to log in to the same place and switch accounts at any time. Microsoft mentions that accounts will open in side-by-side windows from the same Teams app, each with customization options to avoid confusion.

Merging accounts seems like a trivial task, but users of Teams and other Microsoft services know how tedious it is to have two apps serving the same purpose. The new app also allows you to select the account you want to join the meeting with or do so as a guestwithout logging in.

“Whether you’re joining a call to connect with a client or discuss your school’s fall fundraising, simply select your preferred account the moment you join the meeting,” said Amit Fulai, vice president of products at Microsoft.

Microsoft is also adding “cross-play” for all Teams accounts.

Another important feature integrated into Teams is the ability to Connect and collaborate with anyone using your personal account. Microsoft has implemented a kind of cross play between work, personal, and school accounts to create shared spaces. This feature will be available for all profiles except those where administrators have restricted user sign-in.

New Teams app with unified accounts is now available Available for Windows and Mac users. The desktop version is compatible with Windows 10, Windows 11, and macOS 12 (Monterey) or later. To add additional accounts or switch between them, you just need to click on the profile picture located in the upper right corner.

With the new app, classic versions of Teams will no longer be available. Those not interested in installing the app will be able to access it over the web, although some features will be unavailable.
