These outages affected departments such as marketing, development and engineering, platform infrastructure, and software quality assurance.

The decision comes amid challenges stemming from a failed update to the Sonos mobile app, which has caused dissatisfaction among users.

Sonos CEO Patrick Spence confirmed the layoffs, saying it was a difficult but necessary move to ensure the company’s long-term success and continued investment in product development.

However, he stressed that resolving issues in the application remains the company’s top priority.

Spence also noted that in order to accelerate the process of improving the application, the company’s management appointed board member Thomas Conrad to oversee this process.

Additionally, Chief Innovation Officer Nick Millington, who co-created the original Sonos system, is also heavily involved in solving problems with the new app.
