There is no information yet on what may have caused the outage, how severe it is, and when the service will be fully restored. Telegram representatives did not comment on the incident.
According to some reports, around 2:10 p.m. the service began to gradually recover, but complaints from users are still being registered. It is also known that for the moment the service can only be used with a VPN.
Please note that, according to RB.RU, the messenger works fine outside Russia. Along with information about problems with Telegram, there were also messages that the WhatsApp* application had crashed. This is evidenced by data from the Downdetector service. Problems with access to Discord, Dota 2, Steam, and even Rostelecom are noted.
Later, users also reported that there was a failure even in the operation of the “Sboy.rf” bug tracking service.
Roskomnadzor has also confirmed the failure of Internet services in Russia, which the agency says is related to a DDoS attack on telecom operators. RIA Novosti clarifies that this has already been reported.
