Yandex Weather has introduced a new technology that has improved local weather forecasts. Now the weather forecast is based on data from professional and amateur weather stations, the Yandex press service reported.

OmniCast technology has appeared in the Yandex Weather service. Thanks to the implementation of the tool, the service began to receive data on weather conditions 36 times more often and provide a more accurate forecast for city blocks.
OmniCast works based on artificial intelligence technologies. Neural networks calculate the air temperature, collect data from nearby weather stations and take into account the characteristics of the microdistrict, for example, the relief and nature of the surface.
The new tool allows processing data from professional and amateur weather stations. Professional stations transmit information every three hours, amateur stations every five minutes. Using the technology allows users to receive a forecast for each 500 by 500 meter area.
