Packaging and equipment
Packaging of products in colors of the ORICO brand. There are protective plastic inserts inside the cardboard boxes.

Now let’s go through the configuration of the devices in order: first the case, then the SSD drive.
The case comes with:

-
Universal cable (USB A and USB type C) 30 cm long with nylon braid
-
User Manual (English and Chinese)
-
hand strap
-
aluminum radiator
-
heat patch
-
Rubber mounting pads
The MM2C3-G2 case and SSD presented in the review are not sold as a set and can work separately, just for example, we will test a couple of products from the same manufacturer.
For V500 SSD, the package includes:

-
M.2 SSD 2280 256GB
-
Screwdriver and screws for assembly.
-
aluminum radiator
-
heat patch
-
User Manual (English and Chinese)
-
Warranty card (for 5 years warranty)
Appearance of goods
Let’s start again with the case. Its main problem is that it is all plastic. And this is not the best option for heat dissipation, and the unit inside the case works at high temperatures. But this is a cheap version of the case, ORICO has many aluminum options with a heat sink in the case.
The case has an eyelet for a strap or carabiner, the case can be used as a large USB flash drive. Weight with cable 45 g.

In addition to the Type-C connector at the end of the case, there is a sliding cover that opens up access to the inside of the case. The puckless board hangs inside. We see a connector to connect an “M key” disk and holes to fix SSDs of various sizes, from 2230 to 2280.

The controller (USB 3.1 Gen2 on PCIe Gen3 x2) used Realtek RTL9210BPD.
To indicate operation, there is an LED, visible through the hole in the lid:

Let’s move on to the appearance of the V500 2280 SSD (I have a 256 GB version). The controller used here is Silicon Motion SM2263XT, and the 3D TLC NAND memory (2 chips) is a typical solution for the budget segment.

We collect everything, install a radiator through the heat-conducting gasket. The radiator is quite nominal, and where it takes hot air from in the closed space of the case. The mass of the resulting USB drive is 61 g.

Tests
Let’s start testing the link. The enclosure with the SSD is connected via the included USB A cable to the Beelink Gemini X55 mini PC. To start using the drive, you must format it using the Windows Disk Management tool.
The user has access to:

First, let’s test in CrystalDiskMark software (with different file sizes).
And then in other popular test programs.

By the way, the V500 SSD directly in the mini PC case (in the MinisForum GK50) offers read/write speeds of 1900/1600 MB/s. Drive speed may vary significantly based on hardware and software/tests.
And testing the entire disk volume in AIDA64 software:

The average linear read speed of an empty SSD is 397 MB/s, and it’s pretty even across the entire disk volume. But the write test does not seem so optimistic, after 25% of the volume, the disk sharply “deflates”. SSD heatsink temperature jumps to 70 degrees.
The temperature on the surface of the radiator when copying files and working in the operating system:

During normal copying of large files in Windows Explorer, the actual write speed is lower than in synthetic test programs.

conclusion
They agree. Wave and stone, Poetry and prose, Ice and fire
WHAT. Pushkin
My opinion: this couple is better to part. Separately, they will show themselves better than in such an assembly.
Use the cheap ORICO MM2C3-G2 case with cooler SSDs. Then it will be a good USB3.1 flash drive for the same TV or laptop.
And the V500 SSD will show up well as the main one in a PC or laptop immediately with a fast interface on the motherboard, then you will easily realize its calculated write/read speeds. And with a full radiator, it doesn’t get very hot in a cooled case. A 5-year warranty also makes a great statement.
