According to Reuters, starting in 2025, US users will be able to choose a self-driving Chevrolet Bolt when ordering a car through Uber.

Cruise LLC, a division of General Motors Co., faced reputational problems in 2023 due to accidents. Then, a regular car hit a woman on the road, who, as a result of the incident, fell under the wheels of a Cruise unmanned taxi prototype.

However, General Motors did not abandon investments in this area.

Amid the news of the partnership between Uber and General Motors, the former’s shares fell 1.5%, while the latter’s rose 1.3%.

In Russia, unmanned taxis may begin to be introduced in the next five to seven years, the Ministry of Digital Development said. In May 2024, the head of the department, Maksut Shadayev, said he had already driven a prototype and that it was “very cool.”
