The complex, developed by the Television Research Institute, includes a radiation-resistant chamber that can withstand instantaneous gamma radiation of up to 2 Mrad per hour and cumulative radiation of up to 200 Mrad. The camera is equipped with a lens that provides color and black-and-white images with a resolution of at least 1000 television lines at temperatures up to 120 degrees Celsius.
The camera also has a sealed enclosure and additional lamps for working in poor visibility conditions, said Alexey Nikitin, Director General of the Television Research Institute. The new devices will allow more effective control of processes in the reactor compartment and a faster response to emergency situations than conventional cameras, which quickly fail under the influence of radiation.
