“As a result of the investigation, we can unequivocally say that to date the Golden Crown’s connection with any sanctioned person has not been confirmed. Thanks to this, its services have been fully restored,” Dzneladze said.

He noted that the suspension of money transfers from the Russian system was rather technical in nature; companies associated with the Golden Crown were being monitored. It was learned that the service has no ties to persons subject to sanctions, so its operation is possible. Transfers from Georgia to Russia and vice versa are already being made.

Initially, Georgian banks informed customers that the delay was due to “technical reasons,” but unofficially confirmed that the disruptions in transfers and receipt of currency were due to US sanctions on payment services software.

The “Golden Crown” is currently the only way to quickly transfer money from the Russian Federation to Georgia and vice versa; it is popular both among residents of this country and among those moving from Russia;

Following the introduction of a new package of US sanctions, Georgian banks had problems transferring money through the Russian payment system “Golden Crown” because it runs on software from the Center for Financial Technologies, which was under restrictions.
