Pavel Durov was officially trusted with the prosecution.
He is accused of 6 offences.:
► Complicity in the administration of online platforms for the purpose of carrying out illegal transactions of an organized commission
► Complicity in the storage of pornographic materials, including those of minors
► Complicity in the trafficking of prohibited substances
► Complicity in fraud
► Provision of cryptological services that do not exclusively provide authentication or clinical control functions, aimed at ensuring confidentiality functions without a corresponding declaration.
► Refusal to provide, at the request of authorized bodies, information or documents necessary for the implementation and use of an authorized legislative hearing.
Durov was placed under surveillance and banned from leaving France. To be released from prison, he must post bail of 5 million euros.
In addition, the head of Telegram must report to the police twice a week.
An investigation into Telegram’s management was launched in February 2024 due to “no response” to the mechanism’s request. Durov faces up to 10 years in prison in France for administering online platforms for making illegal transactions.
