The system developed at NSTU works on the principle of the human brain: a camera using neural networks recognizes movements and translates them into text. It can also control the computer by changing the brightness, volume and cursor with gestures. The developers plan to complete the system so that it fully complies with the grammar of Russian sign language.

There are about 130 different sign languages ​​in the world. NSTU’s system will benefit more than 300,000 people in Russia who use sign language to communicate. The project, funded by a presidential grant, aims to create a universal product for Russian and foreign users.
