The new model’s SoC is around 33% smaller and demonstrates improved power efficiency, consuming just 2.4W at idle and 8.9W during the CPU stress test, compared to 3.3W and 9.8W for the 4GB version. Temperatures have also dropped, with the 2GB Pi 5 measuring 30°C at idle and 59°C under load, compared to 32°C and 63°C for the 4GB model.

While specific details about the removed features were not disclosed, it is speculated that they are among the features controlled by the RP1 I/O chip, which manages Ethernet, USB, and other interfaces.
