Launched in 2016, Fmovies has become a major player in the world of illegal streaming, garnering 374 million monthly visits and over 6.7 billion views from January 2023 to June 2024. It is ranked as the 280th most visited website worldwide and 11th in TV and movie streaming. The site’s closure is a serious blow to media piracy and media writing.

The activities of Fmovies, based in Vietnam, led to the arrest of two people awaiting trial in Hanoi.

ACE President Charles Rivkin called the site’s demise “a huge victory for the creative industry.”
