The decision came into effect immediately, and so visa-free travel is now possible. This easing will be in effect until March 31, 2025. Initially, the authorities wanted to lift the restrictions only on October 1, but then the list of countries was reduced: a fast-track stamp was offered to tourists from 35 countries.
Under the new rules, it is no longer necessary to apply for a visa upon arrival. Now travellers will simply receive a stamp in their passport and there will also be a note about the date of entry. According to Sabri, this decision will reduce queues at visa counters.
Tourists who recently visited Sri Lanka told RB.RU that in mid-July visa requirements for Russians were stopped. They noted that upon arrival at Bandaranaike Airport in Colombo, they were simply stamped and then, wishing them a good rest, they were asked to proceed to the baggage claim area.
Thailand has made permanent the 60-day visa-free temporary entry for Russians. This is stated in the order of the local Ministry of Interior, which was approved by Prime Minister Setthoy Thavisin.
