Collecting is an activity that requires significant investment on all levels: both moral and financial. I have previously worked on the implementation of gaming technologies, such as the rarest consoles, collector’s editions and in-game items.

Today we’re going to move away from the gaming theme a bit and tell you about the five most expensive and expensive LEGO sets in the world. You’ll be surprised to learn how much these colorful bricks can cost.

1. LECA Car (LEGO Inside Tour Exclusive Edition 2005)

✦ Last known price: $2,350

Among modern LEGO constructors, you can find cars for every taste and interest. However, there is one model that takes first place in the ranking of the most expensive sets.

This machine consists of only 251 parts and at first glance did not attract much attention. But there is one fact that makes it special: there are only 30 such models in the world.

LECA Automobile was featured at the debut LEGO Inside Tour event and replicates one of the first Lego cars designed by Kjeld Kirk Christiansen in 1962.

Currently, one copy is in the museum. The last auction car was held in May 2018.

2. LEGO Cafe Corner

✦ Last known price – from 157 to 464 thousand rubles

Cafe Corner is a complex and multi-level set consisting of 2,000 pieces. It is considered the most beautiful architectural LEGO construction set among collectors.

The set includes many additional parts and figures, such as a red bicycle, which is rarely found in other sets.

Nowadays, this set is easily available to purchase, either as a complete set or in parts. It is not a limited edition set like some other LEGO sets. It was sold as a regular product between 2007 and 2009, but its unique design has made it particularly valuable to collectors.

However, it is worth considering that the cost of figures from this set on specialized sites can be 10-12 thousand rubles. A complete set with all the details can be included in the price. up to half a million rubles.

3. Legoland Train

✦ Last known price: $2,750.

The Legoland Train is rightfully considered the most expensive among LEGO constructors.

It was impossible to buy it in a regular store, so now you can even find it on specialized sites.

This set was released in 2014 specifically for sale visit the LEGO museum. Unfortunately, the exact information is unknown. The set was on sale for only a few days, after which it disappeared.

It was last seen on marketplaces and dedicated forums dedicated to The Legoland Train around 2017.

4. Han Solo on Tauntaun

✦ Last known price – $3,156

Among the LEGO Star Wars sets, this one is not the most remarkable, but it is the most expensive.

The figure is very small, has no face, and the construction set contains only 336 parts.

Its high cost is explained by the fact that this product is not intended for retail sale. The exclusive collection of unknown scientists-editions was released in 2011. The parts were packed in an unusual way for LEGO – not in plastic bags, but in gift bags with a zip.

The last time it was sold was in 2021, and then it cost over 3 thousand dollars. It was a printed version. It’s scary to even imagine how much the “sealed” version would cost (original packaging from the factory).

5. Clumsy Hans by H.C. Andersen

✦ Last known price – $7,375

At the moment, “Clumsy Hans” from the fairy tale of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen is considered the rarest and most expensive set in the world. It has never been sold anywhere.

It was not to be seen at exhibitions, events or the LEGO Museum. It was only held by those who created it, my friend personally and me, who received it in the mail.

Who could become the owner of such a unique set? Only participants of the LEGO Education Ambassador program – a community of “brand ambassadors” and people who use LEGO construction sets for teaching in primary schools.

Only 80 Hans sets were released. Not all program participants decided to sell their sets, but we found out who did. We promise that the deal will be conducted in an official format.

It is currently impossible to purchase this set.

The toy road market is surprising

I once looked at the LEGO Millennium Falcon set in a store and thought it was insanely expensive. But when I was preparing this material, I realized how wrong I was.
