TIME magazine has released a list of the 100 most influential people in artificial intelligence in 2024.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai took first place. The top ten included the heads of Microsoft, OpenAI, Nvidia, Meta*, TSMC, and ByteDance.
Interestingly, Tim Cook didn’t make it to the top at all. There’s only one Apple employee in the ranking, and in the middle of the list. That’s John Giannandrea, Apple’s senior vice president of machine learning.
Many will immediately notice that Apple is barely represented on TIME’s list, even though five Google employees immediately addressed it, ignoring Sundar Pichai.
Apple is still considered a laggard in the AI market, despite all its advances. But Apple itself has made a big bet on II, introducing a suite of Apple Intelligence features that will be available this fall. [iMore]
