Innovation is associated with the entry into force of new EU legislation on digital markets. Messaging services must now be cross-platform, i.e. support the sending of messages between each other.

The developers will gradually introduce the function of combining chats with iMessage, Telegram, Google Messages, Signal and other instant messengers. Users in Europe will be informed about the integration that has been carried out; they will receive a notification about the possibility of using it.

Meta* will also add reactions to messages, plans to introduce read receipts and typing indicators. In 2027, they plan to provide support for audio and video calls with users of other messaging programs.

Cross-platform testing is already underway; it will be used provisionally in 2025, and several functions will appear within two years. The innovations will only be available in the EU. If another country adopts a similar law “On Digital Markets”, its residents will also be able to use the new functions.
