Apple has officially unveiled the Apple Watch 10 in a new design and sizes: 42 and 46 mm.
The watch has a new design. It is thinner, and the screen itself is larger. The display is slightly larger than the Ultra 2, 9% larger than the Series 7, 8, and 9, and 30% larger than the Series 4, 5, and 6.
The company promises that the new screen is 40% larger at an angle compared to the Series 9.
For the first time, Apple Watch is available in Jet Black. Owners of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will probably remember it. The aluminum version will also be available in two colors: rose gold and silver.
The titanium version will be available in black, gold and grey. The block bracelet and Milanese loop will be in the same colour.
The antenna in the cellular version is now integrated into the metal back panel, combining two layers into one. In addition, the back panel perfectly matches the material, finish and color of the rest of the case, giving the impression that the device is made from a single piece of metal.
The Series 10 measures 9.7mm thick, which is nearly 10% thinner than the Series 9. The Series 10 aluminum version is 10% lighter than the Series 9. And the Series 10 titanium version weighs 20% less than the Series 9 in stainless steel.
Apple has redesigned the interface components and installed a new speaker. For the first time, Apple Watch can play music and podcasts directly through the speaker.
Apple Watch 10 gets new charging: 80% in 30 minutes.
The Apple Watch Series 10 has a new S10 chip, which includes a 4-core Neural Engine coprocessor for neural networks. In particular, the 10th series has a new neural network for reducing background noise when making calls using the watch.
The 10 Series will alert you to sleep apnea, which is when breathing frequently stops during the night. They use an accelerometer to track disruptive behaviors and notify owners if there are persistent signs of moderate or severe sleep apnea.
The algorithm was developed using machine learning and research data, and then tested in a large number of clinical trials. Apple is set to receive approval from the US Food and Drug Administration soon.
Outdoor apnea detection will also be available on Series 9 and Ultra 2 models.
The watch now has a new depth gauge (up to 6 meters), a water temperature sensor for swimming in the pool and in open water.
The new Tides app in watchOS 11 can track all your water activity, including your route on a map, distance, and speed.
There are two new dials on the hour. Flux has unusual graphics and changes color with each new second.
Reflections features a shimmering dial that responds to the wearer’s movements and is designed to complement titanium cases.
The Apple Watch Series 10 costs $399. Pre-orders open today, with sales starting September 20.
